Gabriel Paul Caron is a Canadian fashion designer and scholar born in the countryside near Montreal. He grew up in a grey-stone house facing an eerie forest, an atmosphere that continues to shape his distinct fashion sensibility. Introduced to garment-making through his grandmother, a painter and artist, craft and expression became woven into his mind from an early age. Caron completed womenswear design training at LaSalle College, then earned a bachelor’s degree at ESG UQAM’s École Supérieure de Mode.
After gaining experience in the fashion industry through various high-end brands and dressing numerous celebrities under his own name, Gabriel Paul Caron began teaching fashion design at LaSalle College and completed a Master of Design (MDes) at Concordia University. His thesis focused on digital melancholia and the ways emotional phenomena may persist, shift, and materialize through clothing and accessories.
Caron’s practice is rooted in translating affect into wearable form through a rigorous making process. His work most often takes shape through constructed, tailored garments—particularly coats—designed with a strong emphasis on structure, drape, and finishing. Texture and materiality remain central, guiding the development of surfaces that feel tactile and emotionally charged. Across collections and projects, his approach cultivates an aesthetic defined by an ominous sensuality and an almost spiritual nordicity.
