Vuong Val Nguyen

Vuong “Val” Nguyen is an industrial designer and a design researcher focusing on how to use AI for design learning to support form-finding, ideation, and critique.

Prior to joining the MDes program at Concordia, Nguyen worked as an industrial designer with various furniture, appliance, and lighting brands such as Studio Dunn, Kohler, and Stickbulb. His work is rooted in creative direction, human factors, and manufacturing processes. His recent furniture collections, “Dinh” and “Nôm” for District Eight, were showcased at Milan Design Week 2025. His research on fCrit, an AI partner for exploring furniture forms, has been published and presented at venues such as ACM IUI’26, ICCC’25, and XAIxArts workshop at ACM C&C’25. Nguyen holds a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design from Rhode Island School of Design.
