Yongjia Chen
Yongjia is an artist and a game designer located in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Chinese painting from China Academy of Art and is currently a master's student in MDes program at Concordia University.
Through her personal experience and practice, Yongjia developed a strong interest in eastern philosophy and cosmological thinking. Her research within MDes focuses on how to translate Taoism's key concept of "WuWei" (Non-Action) into interactive game mechanics through the context of I Ching hexagram divination system. By treating games as artistic media, Yongjia investigates uncertainty and non-linearity temporality as a reflective and open-ended encounter.
From the tiniest encounters to the major milestones of birth, aging, illness, and death, destiny weaves for us a radiating web, intricate and interconnected.
